Report on Leinster Members successes at The National Championships

Leinster members came out in force to compete at The National Championships in Cavan at the weekend. All combinations had to have attained a qualifying score to compete, so to be eligible to compete was an accomplishment in its self. It was a first time for some members and as such a huge learning curve not only for the riders but also for their horses, and even though some riders may feel they didn’t perform to their best or achieve the percentage they would have liked, remember that the Nationals do bring with it, a big party atmosphere which undoubtedly effects our horses and ourselves as riders. Classes had record entries and standards were high, whatever your thoughts on the championships: you and your horse will have learned from the experience and as such will come out again next year better armed by that experience. Congratulations to all who competed regardless of your results but in particular the following National Championship Winners:

Elementary Category 1 Champion	Tara Hayes

Elementary Category 2 Champion	Marguerite MC Sweeney

Medium Champion	Heike Holstein

Advanced Medium Champion	Heike Holstein

PSG Champion	Judy Reynolds ( over seas rider )

Inter I Champion	Judy Reynolds ( over seas rider )

Under 25s Champion	Tara Hayes

Medium Free Style to Music Champion	Heike Holstein

PSG Free Style to Music Champion	Judy Reynolds ( over seas rider )

Under 25s Regional Team Champions	Tara Hayes Roisin Winters Kevin Acres Linnea Larkin

Regional Team Champions	Camilla Alexandra Brogaard Heike Holstein Kate Dwyer Marguerite MC Sweeney

Leinster members also took 8 Reserve Championships, Tara Hayes in the Novice Category 1, Marguerite Mc Sweeney in the Medium, Kate Dwyer in the PSG, Kate Dwyer in the Inter I, Sandra Blake Farrell in the Inter II, Sonya Mc Cormack in the 4 year olds, Linnea Larkin in the Elementary Free Style to Music ( FSM ), Camilla Alexandra Brogaard Prix St. Georges FSM.

Other notable prize Winners were, Karyn Jamieson 6th in the Preliminary Category 1 Championship, Sonya Mc Cormack 4th in the Preliminary Category 2 Championship, Roisin Winters 3rd and Sarah Elbert 4th in the Novice Category 1 Championship, Linnea Larkin 4th in the Novice Category 2 Championship , Ciara Kelly 3rd and Ciara Furlong 4th in the Elementary Category 1 Championship. Linnea Larkin 4th in the Elementary Category 2 Championship, Maggie Williams 3rd in the Medium Championship, Sandra Blake Farrell 3rd in the Grand Prix, Roisin Winters 3rd and Linnea Larkin 6th in the Under 25s Championship. Marguerite Mc Sweeney 4th in the Medium FSM.

As can be seen from this extensive list, Leinster members did extraordinary well, we in Leinster Dressage are proud of all members who competed regardless of whether you took home a rosette or not. Well done everyone!
